The regulars

Yesterday was the official one year anniversary of our weekly happy hour at Ella’s wood fired pizzeria downtown. It also marked the triumphant return of our good friend Swan from her months of travel (including loads of incredible pictures; just check out the link to her blog). We realized that it had been one full year about halfway through the night and decided that pictures were in order. After taking a nice group shot we then informed Mikey (the greatest bartender in DC if you ask any of us) about the occasion and he in turn brought us a great present in a small tiramisu cake and a bottle of Champaign. How could we possibly not go back ever week with such a great staff and reserved table waiting for us?

The crew including many of the originals (greatly missing the lost soul Jeff to the Southland)

Our presents from the greatest bartender ever...

Isn't it great to be a regular?

Oh and thanks to The Express and Wonkette for the mentions the other day! Thats more traffic then I've seen in the existence of my blog...

Hi! Today is a lousy day for me. Your Happy Hour pics remind me I need a life outside work. It has been too long that I have buried myself into work. When was the last time I wore my worn-out running shoes and ran for hours? When was the last time I had a genuine good laugh? When was the last time I actually talked to someone who was not from my work cycle? I need to look for my old-me and appreciate life from a different angle.

Geez, it reads like I am rambling more than I am leaving you a constructive comment! ;)

Triumph return eh? I don't know about that, Kevin.
Today was one of the first Fridays that I woke up with a headache. Honestly, I need to remember that Yuengling is not like those crappy Asian beers that gives you a hangover while you are drinking it.
Thanks for making the trek out last night.

Hey pancake queen, glad you got something from my post; it is always nice to know that someone is reading and getting something from what I say/post. I always try to mae sure I keep work contained to the right place and time. There is so much emphasis in the city on career that it seems like it is easy to get lost in that and forget that there are more important things in life.

Swan, the fact that you woke up with a hangover today for work is all the triumph we need! Put that on top of your safe, fun and complete trip (not to mention great blog posts and pics for the rest of us) and I think we could even go so far as to say it was a gloriously triumphant return! ;)
